2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship Recipient

Liam’s Focus is open water competitions. In 2014 he competed in the New Zealand team at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships finishing 4th. Last month Liam made a number of finals at the Swimming NZ Open Championship. His targets for 2015 are to compete at the FINA 10km Open Water World Cup events in China and Hong Kong.

Chelsey Edwards

Swimming

2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship Recipient

Chelsey is the youngest of our scholarship recipients. In 2014 she won several medals and titles at various events including the NZCT Aims Games, NZ Short and Long Course Championships. Recently Chelsey took several titles in the NZ Age Group Championships. Her targets in 2015 are the NZ short Course Championships and the Queensland State Championships.

Ruby Heath

Swimming

2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Pathway to Podium Scholarship Recipient

At the 2014 National Age Groups Ruby placed in 3 events. At the Queensland State Championship she placed 8th. At the recent 2015 Swimming NZ Open Championships she made the A final at the in 200m butterfly. Ruby has been selected in the WCC/Sport Wellington Talent ID programme and the WHiPA All Stars Zonal team. Her goals in 2015 are to win a medal at the Queensland States and NZ National Age Championships and meet the Youth Commonwealth Games criteria.

Mary Fisher

Para-Swimming

2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship Recipient

Mary was the 2014 Halberg Disabled Sports person of the Year & Wellington Sportswoman of the Year. She is a multiple world record holder and Para-Olympic gold medallist. At the recent Pan Pacific Championships she won six gold medals. Mary has qualified for the 2015 IPC World Championships in Glasgow in July. Alongside her strenuous training schedule Mary is also completing a degree at Massey University.

Samantha Lee

Swimming & Surf Life Saving
2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship Recipient

Samantha has represented NZ in both swimming and surf live saving. In 2014 she completed at the Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Championships and World Surf Championships were she finished 1st in several events and is world ranked 1st in 2 events. 2015 Samantha has been selected by Swimming NZ to compete at the World University Games and hopes to be named in the NZ Surf Lifesaving team to compete at the German Cup in November 2015.

Rebecca Moynihan

Swimming

2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship Recipient

Rebecca completed in the All Stars Zonal team gaining 2nd and 3rd placings. A titleholder in NZ Short Course Championships and at 2015 Open Championships, Rebecca made 2 A grade finals. Her goals for 2015 to attend the NZ short Course Championships and Queensland State Championships. She is a member of the WCC/Sport Wellington Talent ID programme. Rebecca is a very committed young women travelling from Shannon to Raumati twice a day to train. Rebecca was recently awarded the 2015 Kapiti Sports Emerging Sports Women of the Year.

Emma Robinson

Swimming

2015 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship Recipient

Emma has been an Aquablack for the past two years and competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships and has also achieved considerable success as an open water swimmer competing at the 2013 Open water Championship In Spain. Emma recently qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Kazan Russia in both the 400m & 800m freestyle. Her long-term aim is to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

All Stars team

2015 WHiPA Sponsorship

WHiPA have sponsored the All Stars team from Wellington and Manawatu to compete in the National Zonal Championships. This action packed, fast paced meet will pit the four zones of Swimming New Zealand against each other to determine a champion team. 

The Zonal Championship is based on the collegiate swimming competitions that are held in America. New Zealand has been split into 4 zones (franchises). Each team consists of 40 swimmers made up of: 20 under 15 boys and girls and 20 16 and over men and women.
